NFL Week One - The Vick Factor

Oh. The city of brotherly love.

What a strange, strange city. The fans and the owner basically turned against arguably one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, Donovan McNabb. McNabb continues to show his leadership now that he is in Washington D. C. He has taken that offense to another level. He has a great arm and an some speed which is rare to find in a quarterback these days. However, now he is a Redskin and the fans seemed optimistic about there new leader Kevin Kolb. Micheal Vick, a proven leader was subject to be Kolb's back up.

Sunday.

The Eagles vs. the Packers looked promising to say the least. A brand new season. A brand new quarterback. A brand new attitude from the fans. Well, at least for a short time. Kolb walked out on to the field with cheers. His head was held high and his confidence was astounding. Within a short period of time this all continued to fade. Kolb looked like a wounded dog. The Packers defense embarrassed the Eagles offensive line and terrorized Kolb. Time and time again, it appeared as if Kolb was ether scared that his line wasn't protecting him or that we was just not cut out for this position. The fans quickly turned on Kolb and it looked as if this was going to be a long season. It was apparent that Kolb was not coming back into the game after the last him put on him. He looked awkward on the side line and just didn't seem as if anyone was home. So, the mighty Eagles put in Micheal Vick. After the first series of plays. The team looked different. The line was blocking for Vick. The players were responding to Vick. Vick made some great passes. He rushed for over 100 yards. By the end of the game, everyone even Packer fans were hoping he would win the game for the Eagles.

Vick.

Sure. Vick bet on dogs in an illegal dog fighting ring that he set up. Sure. He executed dogs that didn't win for him. Sure. He potentially was involved in a nightclub shoot out. That is not the important factor here. The important factor is that he is the best man for the starting position. Vick was amazing to say the least and he was absolutely correct in the fact that if he played all four quarters the Eagles would of won that game. Vick deserves the starting roll based on the fact that he showed how he could lead that team and he proved that they responded to Vick as the leader.

Kolb vs. Vick

Vick can give you W's. So far, from what we have seen from Kolb he will give you L's and lots of them. Please play Vick instead of Kolb for the fans of the great city of Philadelphia. Sure. They will turn on Vick too. But for a few moments, we may be able to hear ourselves think over the whining Eagles fans. If you play Kolb, be careful. If you watched during Kolb's wounded dog performance, Vick was licking his lips as if, he had found his next victim.

For the brotherly love, play Vick for the sake of Kevin Kolb.

  1. Vick's athleticism and talent on the football field has been unquestionable since his high school days. Yes, he made the mistake of allowing his relatives to talk him into financing illegal activities and committing criminal acts. He has expressed his regrets, served his time and it's over. He is back to doing what he is known for so in mentioning his name, let's drop our speculative opinions of his past and deal with the present!

  2. Well said. Just read an article that claimed that Vick doesn't deserve to be forgiven by America. What? Didn't he do his time? I think everyone deserves a second and even a third chance. Well except for child rapist...that's just not cool. And I don't really know how a person gets sexually excited over a little kid but thats a different story.

    The facts:
    1) The Eagles signed M. Vick.
    2) He is a better QB than Kolb
    3) The team performs better with Vick than Kolb.

    The Answer:
Play Vick. Forget what he did in the past. The man has served his time and now it is time to allow him to do what he does best. (Or at least second best. I heard he was a pretty good dog fighter.)
