For Tebow Sake...

Over the past few months, I have heard nothing but Tebow is awful or Tebow is great.

The fact is, is that no one really knows what this kid can do. I personally, wish Tebow a great deal of success. Tebow's stats are dismal at best. His performances have been mildly entertaining. However, the kid hasn't played much at all. You can't not judge a person by a few games and say that he is the best thing ever or that he is awful and can't ever compete in this league.

So, if you look at the two sides of this argument; you see one side just saying that Tebow is great without any real accomplishments. And, the other side that just really doesn't like the people that are calling him great.

I don't believe that anyone really has an issue with Tebow…the issue is with Tebow fans.

How about we call a trues? Tebow fans shut up until the end of the season. If he does better then great…talk all you want. If he doesn't then remain silent.

Angry Birds

Angry Birds, I wish I was talking about the app.  Unfortunately, I am speaking about the Eagles.  Not the players, the fans!

For the past few weeks, I have heard nothing from Eagles fans about: how terrible Vick is, incompetent Reid is, or why the Eagles defense is awful.  Guess, what?  It's not your team that sucks.  It's you!

The Eagles fans are the absolute worst in the NFL.  Let us go back…

• December 15, 1968, Eagles fans boo Santa Claus and then proceed to pelt him with snowballs.

• From 1986 − 1991, Buddy Ryan was the Coach of the Eagles.  Buddy Ryan is really to blame for these terrible fans.  He built the team.  He built the fan base.  Though, Buddy Ryan is seen as one of the best coaches to coach the game.  The fans never appreciated him.  

• On December 10, 1989, the Philadelphia Eagles Fans pelted the Dallas Cowboys team and coaches with snowballs.

• In 1995, Randall Cunningham decided to retire from football.  He did so because not only the fans but the organization turned their backs on him and offered Rodney Pete the starting job in Philly.  Surprisingly, Pete was one of the few Quarterbacks that the Eagles fans liked and didn't boo immediately.  Cunningham later went on to lead the Minnesota Vikings to a 15-1 season only three years later.

• In 1999, the Eagles drafted Donnovan McNabb second pick overall in the draft. He was met with a chorous of Boos on opening day. McNabb led the Eagles to four consecutive NFC East division championships between 2001-2004, five NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl XXXIX appearance, in which the Eagles were defeated by the New England Patriots. McNabb's career was consistantly challenged by Eagles fans, no matter how well he played.

• Oct. 11, 1999, Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin suffered a career-ending neck injury at Veterans Stadium against the Philadelphia Eagles.  While Irvin lay motionless on the ground, Eagles fan cheered.

• Philadelphia no choice but to install a court, judge and jail inside the stadium.  A courtroom was built into the stadium where unruly fans were taken for judgment and sentencing after committing crimes at Veterans Stadium.  The penalties for the crime forced offenders to give up season tickets, pay a $400 fine and sit in jail for the rest of the game.

• In 2004, the Eagles aquired Terrell Owens.  The Eagles fan base really embrased him.  The Eagles fans were never very happy with McNabb and when Owens began his rants against McNabb and the Management, Eagles fans cheered this on.

• Michael Vick was picked up by the Philledephia Eagles in 2009, majority of the Eagles fans hated this move.  Vick, an ex-convict being picked up by the Eagles was not something they wanted for their team.  Vick is currently the started of the Eagles and most Eagles fans regard him as a "cry baby."

• In 2010, Donovan McNabb was sent packing by the Eagles.  Relying on the fact, that they had two great Quarterbacks in Michael Vick and Kevin Kolb.  McNabb was never respected throughout all of his days as an Eagle.  Most of the time, McNabb was booed more than cheered.

• In 2011, Andy Reid has compiled what was considered to be the "Dream Team."  However, after a 3 − 6 start; the Eagles fans are now calling for Reid to be dismissed.  Reid has compiled the best win total 120, winning percentage .609 and playoff victory total 10 in team history. He has captured six division titles and five trips to the NFC Championship game. Since he was hired in 1999, no other franchise has earned more divisional playoff round appearances 7. 

These are just some of the reasons as to why the Eagles fans are ruining the Eagles franchise.  I can understand booing Santa.  Hell, I can even understand cheering while an injured opponents player laid motionless on the field.  What, I can not understand is how or why they disrespect every player that they get.  Cunningham wasn't good enough, McNabb wasn't good enough, Vick isn't good enough.   So, who is?  What if they traded for Tom Brady?  I am sure they would still boo.

It is a proven fact that if a team or a person is cheered, the team or person is more likely to win.  If a team or person is booed they are more likely to lose.  So guess what Philly…you are killing yourselves.

The Eagles fans don't deserve this team.  Eagles fan deserve to not have a team at all.  The Eagles should move to L.A. and deal with the Hollywood weirdos rather than deal with a bunch of ungrateful bastards.  At least in L.A. you would have a fit fan base rather than a bunch of cheese steak filled fat asses.

NFC East - The Lock Out Review

The NFC East Preview - Before any trading takes place, before anyone can begin the shifty movements between teams; let us take a look at this division and see how these teams match up, and what they need to do in order to get a championship.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys were the biggest disappointment last year. At the beginning of the season most football analysts claimed that the Cowboys would be in the Superbowl. Well, that did not happen. As a matter of fact, the Cowboys were down right pathetic. Big named stars making large salaries were just not performing up to the standards of a Superbowl team. So, we blamed the coach and sent him packing and then Garrett stepped in and the team performed fairly well but still had some major concerns on both sides of the ball. Let us examine these concerns.

Offense

QB

The position of Quarterback is arguably the Cowboys greatest challenge. Tony Romo has held this position for several years and has done a good job holding the reigns. As a matter of fact, Romo has an above average QB rating for a starting QB, his interceptions have progressively decreased, and his fumbles have been greatly reduced. With all of that being said, I don't know if Romo is a true leader. He has always had concerns when the Cowboys have been in the playoffs. He has never really lead this team. He has always been just one of the "boys." Everyone thought once T.O. left town, Romo would break out and become the leader everyone wants him to become. Unfortunately that hasn't happened yet.

RB

Between Marion Barber and Felix Jones, this is a great one, two punch. In the draft they also picked up DeMarco Murray who could add another dimension to the game.

WR

Miles Austin and Dez Bryant are the two featured WR, considering Roy Williams has done very little for the team. Austin could have an amazing year. Bryant the jury is still out. I will let you know, though.

TE

Jason Witten - Solid.

Line

Average. The team had shifting concerns last year on the left and right side. Personally, I think the real issue with the line is the center. Hopefully, this offseason the Cowboys will make necessary adjustments.

Defense

LB

Solid

Secondary

Could use an upgrade. Both sides are weak. But for the most part, Ball and Newman need to go. These are very weak players in the NFL and should be considered backups and not starters.

Ends and Line

Bowan is a beast. Could use a matching end of the right side.

My take:

Once trading can take place. Trade Romo. Romo is still worthy of getting some good players and high draft picks. Trade him and acquire a first round draft pick or a great starting QB. Trade Roy Williams. Make a deal with the Patriots and take any of their WR that is collecting dust on the bench because they will perform better than that SOB. Spend some money and pick up some great Secondary players. Just about anyone will be better than Ball or Newman. Do this and win the NFC East.

New York Giants

The Giants battled their way to the playoffs. Getting in with a Wild Card. Personally, I think this is one of the luckiest teams in the last 10 years. Everything that happens with this team is luck. Let's take a look at this team.

Offense

QB

Eli has a low QB rating for a starting QB. Last year, he had 25 interceptions. 25 interceptions does not get a team into the playoffs…wait a minute…they were in the playoffs. Eli has managed to rack up over 4000 yards in both the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Also, in the past two years his completion percentage has been in the 60%.

RB

The last two years Brandon Jacobs has been slipping. 2008 season was his best and it is looking like it might be time to put this guy down.

WR

Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham really came into there own this year. Watch out for these two.

TE

Kevin Boss is probably the most standard TE in the game. in the past two seasons, Boss has gained 500+ yards, and has 5 touchdowns.

Line

They have a fairly strong line. It has really improved from a year ago.

Defense

LB

This is arguably the worst group of LB in the league. I believe that this was the greatest challenge for the Giants in 2010. More often than not, teams would pass over the middle or run up the middle and these linebackers were sad to watch.

Secondary

This is a great secondary. Maybe the best Cornerback secondary in the league. And the safeties are not too shabby either.

Ends and Line

Tuck and that other guy on the right side are unbelievable. This is the greatest Defensive End grouping ever in the history of the NFL. The D line has some concerns but its weakest team member is Canty and that isn't too bad.

My take:

Bring in some great RB and LB. This is all that you will need with all that luck this team has. If the Giants see to one or the other position in the off season, they will go to the Superbowl.

Philadelphia Eagles

Everyone who reads this blog knows that I jumped on to the M. Vick bandwagon early on. So some of this will not come as a surprise to you but I bet that some of it will make you wonder if I am alright in the head. You all probably already think that.

QB

M. Vick did great last year. Arguably the best QB of the 2010 season. At least he was the most talked about.

RB

LeSean McCoy had a fairly good year. 1000 yards + rushing a few touch downs.

WR

DeSean Jackson and Jermy Maklin…wow!

TE

Brent Celek is a solid TE. He had a rather slow year due to the new weapons.

Line

The right side is a little weak but I do not believe that this has to do with a particular player it is more about the coaching.

Defense

LB

Bradley maybe the only bright spot on this LB squad.

Secondary

This team is loaded with great corners. The safeties are pretty young but they have done a fairly good job at these positions.

Ends and Line

The ends and the line are above average.

My take:

Personally, this is what I would do. I would trade Vick. I would get a fast WR, a great back up RB. and find some LB with some balls. Have Kolb run the offense and this will make you Superbowl champs next year.

Washington Redskins

This team had the makings of one of the greatest football teams in history. The Shannahans, McNabb, Portis, Cooley, etc… Well, as we know, nothing great came from this but a horrible disaster.

QB

Um…who is the QB now?

RB

Um…well. (Chirp, chirp)

TE

Cooley is a great TE.

WR

Well, Um…

Line

I don't know if they ever showed up last year to judge them.

Defense

LB

The Redskins LB are very strong.

Secondary

DeAngelo Hall is the brightest part about this secondary.

My take:

This has the makings of the 2003 Oakland Raiders all over it. The Shannahans has now officially deconstructed a team that they put together. Now what? They need to build it back up. unfortunately they have done a poor job in doing so in the draft and else where. What would I do? Fire the Shannahans.

To Live and Die in L.A.

Well…Well….

Here we are again. Talking about who is going to be the next L.A. NFL Football Team. The choices are between:

St. Louis Rams

Oakland Raiders

San Diego Chargers

Jacksonville Jaguars

Minnesota Vikings

Hmmm….Oakland and St. Louis were once L.A. Teams and if I remember correctly the fans didn't support them. At least not the Rams. The Rams ran out of L.A. Oakland is a wild card any way you look at it. Al wants to be in L.A. then he doesn't. Al wants what is best for Al.

The Chargers is an interesting pick. This team is doing well in San Diego. The fans are as loyal as you get. Well at least until you move your team to L.A. This would not be a good idea.

Jacksonville is horrible. This team needs some TNT rather than a move to LA LA land. The Jags have never really attracted a large fan base so this maybe a good move for them.

Minnesota has been threatening to move for some time now. Honestly, I am bored with the whole thing. It is reminiscent of when Favre wants to come out of retirement or when Bernard Hopkins wants to talk about something he knows nothing about. But lets review, fans are relatively present in Minnesota. The team has been going through some growing pains here and there. The whole Favre thing is pathetic. The rebirth of Randy Moss in Minnesota was a sad sight to see. Childress…well, enough said.

Personally, I thin the league should grow. The league should accept two to eight more teams. Here is where I think teams should go:

Los Angeles

Portland

Las Vegas

Vancouver

Mexico City

San Antonio

Quebec

Toronto

Some would say that this would cause the league to be too saturated with average play. I say there is some many great players that never make it to the NFL. Why not merge some leagues together and get some of these great players from the UFL.

As for the five teams listed above. Oakland and St. Louis shouldn't even be considered. These teams already had an opportunity with L.A. and they failed. Minnesota is not going to L.A. San Diego would be fools to move. Jacksonville is the only real potential candidate.

Christmas (or Hanukkah) in June!

Let's face it, the NFL is in shambles. Where do I begin? Let's start with the Lockout. For those who do not know what is going on; currently the owners have locked out the players. Why has this occurred? Well, for a few reasons. But mainly because all sides are greedy bastards. When I say all sides there is much more to this than players and owners, like the papers would want you to believe. The major players in this whole thing; is the Owners, Players, and the NFL. The players would not agree to a new agreement with the owners because the owners are not sharing with the players organization where moneys are coming in from and how much. The NFL and the Owners do not want this material to become public. Weather or not, this is right…I don't care. I really could care less and so could the rest of the football fans out there. As a matter of fact, it seems very discouraging amongst the fans about what is going on. Several fans have jumped ship already. Some plan to if the season doesn't occur and other could care less it is just some mindless entertainment for them. I fall into a little bit of all the above.

So because of all this B.S., I am going to start my Christmas list for June right now.

Dear Santa,

I am writing this list to you in June because I would like to get a few things prior to Christmas. Here is my list and I hope you will comply, like you always do:

10) Please stop Ray Lewis from telling the media that the fans are going to cause major crimes if there is not a football season. We all know that the NFL players will be involved in more crimes than the fans will be.

9) This lady who had a Redskin symbol painted on her teeth, needs to be smacked up side her head. First of all, yuck. Secondly, why? Finally, I would rather her paint something on her boobs so that I would have something to look at instead of her nasty mouth.

8) May Ocho Cinco please find a new career in this off season.

7) T.O. should take up a new career: one that will rival George Michaels Sports Machine called the T.O. Show at night and during the day he should become an interior designer to battle that other wash up.

6) Please stop the racial slurs when discussing Michael Vick. I don't care if you wanna call him a dog murderer or an executioner of pups….don't care. But please leave the racial card at the door. It really shows how ignorant people are when all you can do is call someone a N….

5) McNabb should no longer be allowed to have a number. Instead McNabb should be the only player in history to get a symbol and that symbol is cross hairs. Why? Not cause I wish him harm. As a matter of fact, I am a huge supporter of McNabb. Because that poor guy gets hit every direction he goes. Philly fans, Washington fans, NFL fans, Hopkins…etc…

4) Now with Opera gone. I think Reggie Bush should retire and take her place as the Queen of day time talk shows.

3) Please stop the mindless chatter that Jay Cutler has no heart. The man is a good QB. He is not great. But he is good. Let the man breath and he will do well for you in Chicago.

2) Somebody please wipe the drool from Goodell's mouth and let him slip back into his coma so that he will get off this 18 week season. "Yes. I know. Mr. Goodell. The fans want 18 games." Has anyone ever really done a check to see if this dude is a real person or a mindless robot zombie from the planet Gotohell?

1) I want there to be a football season. I do not care who plays for these teams. I do not care who the owners of these teams are. And I really do not care who the commissioner is and the rest of the NFL executives are. So, if need be…fire them all and lets start over.

Disenfranchised Part 2

The Players Union and the NFL couldn't come to an agreement. Therefore, the players have been locked out. The real losers in this game is the fans. We watch, we spend money on tickets, merchandise, etc... And what do we get...locked out.

The NFL is a 9 billion dollar industry and they get all of their money from us...the fans. So how do we combat this. We the fans have the ultimate power. We have the choice to pay for tickets. We have the choice to buy merchandise.

Disenfranchised

The labor dispute has threatened my 2011 football season. Therefore, I came up with an ideal way of settling the dispute.

Now first of all, I do not know where every penny goes so please do not get too critical about this but I think this would be a great solution to this issue.

Currently, the NFL is a 9 billion dollar industry. The NFL collects its revenue mostly from Advertising, Licensing, and TV contracts. Ticketing and Concessions makes a lot of money. As for Licensing, every time a person buys a players jersey or if you watch an old NFL game on TV, the NFL collects. TV contracts is where the money is the greatest for the NFL. This is the bread and butter of the organization. All teams get the same cut from the TV Contracts.

Currently, the players receive about 3/4 of the total revenue of the NFL. This is set up by the players association. The Players Association meets with the NFL every 5 - 10 years and discusses finds ways to increase the players earnings.

In 2011, 4 billion dollars will go to the 32 teams for their TV Contracts. Let's just say that the NFL has to take a cut so the 32 teams receive 100 million dollars each. Each team must go down to 53 players each year. Every team offered the players a base salary of a million dollars per year. This is guaranteed money. If the player gets hurt, if he sits on the bench, if he sends naked pictures to a jets employee...it doesn't matter the player always gets their money. Each team would then be left with 47 million dollars. The 47 million would be broken into three parts; bonuses, Owner, and management of the organization. Lets say out of the 47 million dollars, 20 million dollars was set aside for bonuses. These bonuses would come in forms of Most Rushing Yardage, Most Receiving Yardage, Most Interceptions, Most Tackles, Most Sacks, etc... There could even be stipulation bonuses if starting QB throws 20 interceptions this year he will not receive the bonus. 20 million dollars would go to the Management of the team. Head coach would get 2 million, assistant coaches would receive a 1 million dollars, etc... The owner would then have to find a way to run his organization off of 7 million dollars for the year.

Now as for the Ticketing and Concessions, lets say team XYZ has a stadium that seats 60,000 fans. Tickets are 50 per person. Each team gets 8 home games...the way it works right now is that the home team receives 60 percent while the visitor receives 40 percent. Let's say that we make it 50 / 50. On a sold out game both teams would receive 1.5 million dollars. .5 should go to the owners / management while 1 million dollars should go back to the team. After a 16 week season, we are talking an additional 16 million dollars minus concessions. An additional 301,886 per player.

Licensing and Advertisement should be done in the same manner. If three people buy Charles Woodson jerseys, then the proceeds should go to the team to be spread amongst the players.

Where would this leave old Payton Manning. Payton Manning just signed a contract for 99 million for 7 years. Well, if he played soild for all seven years, and they structured his bonuses for 2 million per year, we would be looking at 23 million dollars for seven year minus concessions, advertisement and Licensing.

Sure this may not be perfect but it would be instrumental rejuvenating the NFL. No more Randy Mosses giving up, no more T.O. crying about the QB, no more stadiums not getting filled up because the players would start to care again. They would have to come to signings and show themselves in public so that the public wants to come see them perform. This is why the NFL has been disenfranchised.

The Bengals

The Bengals...this team was awful. I am appalled by the fact that the 2010 Bengals could even call themselves an NFL team. This team reminds me of the 2004 Oakland Raiders.

Let us dissect this team and see where the problem lies:

Offense
Carson Palmer - 3970 Yards, 26 Touchdowns, 20 Interceptions and 7 Fumbles.
Cedric Benson - 1111 Yards, 7 Touchdowns, 7 Fumbles
Ocho Cinco - 831 Yards, 4 Touchdowns, 1 Fumble
T. O. - 983 Yards, 9 Touchdowns

The Offensive line allowed for 26 sacks.

Defense
Really the only stand out player on the defense is Carlos Dunlap who recorded 10 sacks this year. The rest of the defensive squad was terrible.

Special Teams
Same...really poor.

Play Calling and General Coaching
Poor at best.


With this offense and with such an under average defense, this team should of been racking up the points. However, this team only scored 30+ points in 4 games. The rest of the time the team could barely get a first down. Why?

Poor coaching.

Here is my two cents and you can take it or leave it. Carson Palmer could definitely be a great quarterback again. His inconsistency in throwing interceptions is the biggest concern. This maybe because of the play calling or the average performance of the receivers. Keep these players. 1st player in the draft they need to recruit a great lineman. A Guard or Tackle that can apply consistently allow for Carson to make the plays. In the lower rounds, they need to draft a tight end, a receiver, and a two defensive players preferably both that could start immediately in LB and in the secondary. The entire defense needs to be reworked. They need to start at the draft and who ever they get they need to build around. Which mean making some great after draft choices at line men and secondary. The most pathetic part of the Bengals is that they don't even know what they have. They should of been a playoff contender.

This is all fine and dandy but the truth is that this team will continue to perform like this next year even if they take the steps that I just layed out for them. Why? Because the coaching is piss poor. They need to make sure that all of their players know that they are expendable. And that they can use a different guy in that position. They need to hold these players accountable for their actions. This is the greatest challenge for the Bengals. Unfortunately, we will have to wait and see if this coaching group will do just that.

Within the rumor mill is that Palmer won't come back. If the Bengals were smart...which is still up in the air...they need to make sure that Palmer comes back but knows that he could be second in the line up. Make sure when training camp starts that another younger QB is waiting in the locker room. He will change his tune once he sees that he can be replaced.

L.A.

Remember the L.A. Rams? How about the L.A. Raiders?

Now, L.A. is attempting to get a new Football team! Will they steal a team already in the league? Minnesota? Jacksonville? Oakland? Chargers?

All of these names have been thrown around. Some more, than others. Currently, the front runner is San Diego! Really? They have a solid fan base? Why should they move? Jacksonville seems like the clear choice to me. Jacksonville hasn't sold out a game...in some time.

But to be completely honest. The league is set up brilliantly the way it is. 4 teams in a 4 division conference with two conferences. Makes plenty of sense to steal a team rather than create a team. But I got a different spin on things. Hear me out:

Remember when the NFL joined with the AFL? Wasn't that a real spell bounding moment? What if, the CFL and the NFL joined forces? Some teams were moved to the United States, while other teams went even further south, and some teams were disassembled. Imagen an NFL where there were four conferences: North, South, East and West. Each conference would have 2 divisions made up of 5 teams. Each team would play their divisional rivals twice in a season. Then they would play their cross divisional rivals once a year. Then the final three games would be based off of the previous years schedule. If the Patriots were 15 -1 and the Packers were 15 - 1. Then they would play again the next year.

The Playoffs would take four conference champions, four divisional winners and four wild card teams. The Wild Card teams would play first against the divisional winners. The winners of those games would then play the Conference Champions.

Could you imagine an NFL where the Mexico City Aztecs played the Toronto Cannucks in the Super bowl? Might take some getting use to.

The End of an Era

In the past twenty years, we have seen some of the greatest football in the NFL. 6 teams come to mind:

Pittsburgh Steelers
Green Bay Packers
Dallas Cowboys
New England Patriots
San Fransisco 49er's
Indianapolis Colts

These teams have dominated the past twenty years. However, if you really break it down...Indianapolis and New England have never really had stand out teams until the last twenty years. The 49er's ruled the 80's and the 90's but before that they were not much to look at. The three stand out teams of all time have been the top three: Pittsburgh, Green Bay and Dallas. How fitting that this Superbowl is being held in Dallas and that the Steelers and the Packers will be battling to see who is best.

However, it brings into question what happened to all the other greats? Miami, Oakland, Minnesota, Buffalo. What happened?

What happened is the NFL has put road blocks into effect that causes the "Dynasties" to die out much quicker. If you watch any of the conferences each year their is usually a different team leading the ranks.

In my opinion, the dynasties will no longer occur within the NFL. We will start seeing a lot more even playing field within the next twenty years.

So, this beer is for the Superbowl. Two of the NFL's all time great football teams battling it out in the home of another great football team. However watch out. It may be a while before you see them again.

Where Shall Vince Go?

Here is my pick...I bet Vince eventually gets released and then a team like the Texans will pick him up but only for a short time where he will be dealt and end up in Dallas, of all places.

Here are my predictions from the beginning of the year. Lets see how I did?



AFC:
Ravens - 1st seed - Patriots - Close but no cigar!
Colts - 2nd seed - Steelers - Close but no cigar!
Patriots - 3rd seed - Indianapolis - Close but no cigar!
Raiders - 4th seed - Kansas City - Well, I don't know I think Al Davis rhetoric has completely fried my brain.

AFC Wild Cards:
Titans - Baltimore - Hmmm....
Jets - Jets - Cigar!!!

Truth to be told, I guessed 4 of the 6 teams in the playoffs! Not too bad.

NFC:
Packers - 1st seed - Atlanta - Never saw Atlanta coming!

Ok...Sorry work has kept me from being as active on here as I have been in the past. I promise to do a prediction this week.

2 Minute Drill a quick run down of all that I have been missing out on in the past two weeks.

Shannahans VS. McNabb

McNabb is within the top 5 quarterbacks in the league today. Only few can stand up and take control of a team like McNabb does. His performance this year has not been very effective. This is his first year within a new system and he wasn't traded early in the year. Mike Shannahan has a great record with the Denver Broncos. Throughout majority of his career, he had John Elway: who is a top ten quarterback of all time. Now, how much coaching did Mike have in that roll or was Elway just Elway. Mike has also had Brian Grease and Jake Plummer. Plummer was a good quarterback for the Cardinals. Why couldn't he cultivate that quarterback? As far as the Shannahan son...well...you got your job because your dad is who he is. McNabb has more control over that locker room than Mike does and that right there proves the fact that Mr. Shannahan needs to retire. Get out of the game cause you couldn't coach in Oakland, you couldn't coach in Denver and you are not coaching in Washington.

Randy Moss is now a Titan
Well...here is the long story short. Randy Moss is a man who needs discipline. If your team has discipline and is ran like a football team then well Randy Moss will succeed in your program. As a coach, you can not have your players walk on you. Moss has walked on the Vikings, Oakland and now the Vikings again. Moss is an extremely talented player. If I was the coach of a team, I wouldn't pick him up but teams like New England or teams like Steelers or the Colts would do very well with him.

The Return of Mike Vick
Kolb played great while Vick was away. However, now that he his back Kolb takes the bench. I am really torn between these two players. Both really do deserve a chance to start. Personally, I would take Vick.

Oakland Won Three Straight?
Yes...this is true. How? Who knows?

Falcons on a Roll
I would of taken the Falcons this week. Atlanta proved that they really are destine to be in the playoffs.

Cowboys already making Superbowl plans
Too bad they are making party plans rather than football schemes. What happened to this team? Phillips claimed that if he "knew what to do he would of done it." Guess what. That was the nail that sealed your coffin my friend. What kind of coach admits do being dumbfounded by this season, weather it be true or not. Never admit you don't know what you are doing. Jones said he wasn't releasing anyone until the end of the season. Bad call. Get rid of that bum and the one that throws the ball.

Steelers have continued to dominate with Ben under the wheel. This team is looking good.

As Bill Parcels left the office, soon did the Wildcat offense and then quickly followed there wins. Who is making the decisions down there. Bring the Cat back and play football like you know it. B. Marshall is all you got for receivers. So you are going to rely on one player to start making all of your plays. Really?

KC Joke or No Joke
Well, with a lose to the Raiders it seems like a joke. But the truth is, they have a great rushing game. They have a fairly decent defense. Their Quarterback has been very inconsistent. They make a lot of mistakes. They continue to throw the ball when they know that they are a rushing team. Hmmm...maybe the offensive coordinator needs to go.

After MNF...I will put out my mid season playoff predictions.

As anticipated, my picks are in. I know that I intimidate all of you with my accurate prediction of these football games...so lets get started. Oh but before I do, lets see where I am at to date...

CINCINNATI BENGALS @ ATLANTA FALCONS
This is a good match up. I would look for the Atlanta Falcons to pull this one off. I feel when Matt Ryan uses all of his weapons he is an unstoppable force. However, the play calling often is one sided and when this occurs they lose the game. If Ryan spreads the ball around, I would look for a Falcons victory. The Bengals have a great team. Too bad Palmer isn't the QB he used to be. After this season is over, I would look for the Bengals to be searching for a new starter.

Update:
This game turned out as expected. But, I have to admit Carson Palmer played a hell of a game. T.O. is hot and where is the Spanish 85. Bengals have some work to do but they are not looks too bad. The show stopper was Roddy White. That kid can play!

WASHINGTON REDSKINS @ CHICAGO BEARS
The Redskins are a very good team and the Bears are a very strong team. Washington needs to go after Cutler and make him make mistakes. However, the Redskins defense is marginal. I would look for the Bears to change up their rhythm and start making plays that are unique to the Bears offense. Look for Cutler to come out of the pocket. I think Forte will become a much more utilized resource. McNabb should be used more as an offensive threat. The Redskins have been rushing too much and this has proved to be successful but in order to be a powerhouse McNabb needs the ball.

Update:
Washington and Chicago met in what a lot of sport writers said was "the ugliest game of football!" No. The ugliest game of football was played earlier this year between the Cardinals and the Raiders. Both of these teams have work to do but it is clear that this really was a defensive game. Both teams have some really great players on defense and usually these teams are not associated with being a great defensive team. DeAngelo Hall and DJ Moore both had interceptions.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES @ TENNESSEE TITANS
This is a great game. Kolb vs. Collins. While Young and Vick are on the bench. This would be the game of the week if the starters were in. The Eagles are a little banged up. Titans as well. Collins is a great QB and should be starting maybe not over Young but he should still be a starter in this league. The Titans wins have been less than triumphant majority of there wins have been with small yardage and low scoring. Collins has a tenancy to move the ball a bit more than Young. Kolb is shaping up to be a good QB. This game has the Eagles all over it. Maclin will have a huge game. Chris Johnson should have a big game too. I think this game will be won with Defense.

This game was nothing like I anticipated. Nothing really happened until the second quarter and then the QB started showing what they are worth. Kolb didn't look so hot while Collins proved that he still has it.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS @ KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Hmmm....Jacksonville is awful. Defensively and offensively this team sucks. The only bright spot on the roster is Maurice Jones-Drew. However, without an effective passing game this team will remain losing games. Kansas City is a contender for the playoffs. Cassel has not been very effective at all this season. Sure he has thrown a few passes and made a few plays in the last few weeks but he is nothing to brag about. I would look for this to be a game of rushing, rushing and more rushing. Chiefs now have two games with rushing yards over 200 and between their two backs I would think that this trend would continue. I would look for Charles and Jones to have another big game.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS @ MIAMI DOLPHINS
This is a great matchup. Pittsburgh played well without Roethlisberger now with him back he is breathing a whole 'nother life into this offense. The Dolphins have proven that their system will work and I am a believer. With the changing between Henne and the wildcat offense this team is a work of art. However, Henne has little to work with. Brandon Marshal is his only option but a very good option.

I thought Miami did a good job but with the deminishing of there Wildcat offense is starting to hamper productivity. Go back to the wildcat and win some more games.

This should be a decent match up. St. Louis has continued to make big gains this season with Bradford leading the way I believe this team may end up .500 or better. The Buccaneers are a solid team. They have their strengths with Ernest Graham and Mike Williams and Kellen Winslow. Josh Freeman remains the question mark to me on this offense. He has won over majority of the professional writers and professional sports casters but not me. He seems shaky and I am not certain that he has what it takes to be the NFL QB that a team needs.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS @ CAROLINA PANTHERS
49ers finally won one. However, it was against the Raiders. They continue to play some weak teams for the next few weeks they should win a few. The Panthers have some major concerns with health and continue to play lousy because of this. I wouldn't expect Alex Smith to have a good game. I wouldn't expect this to be a good game at all. I would think that this maybe uglier than the 49er Vs. the Raiders last week.

This is an easy game to predict. Buffalo is awful. Plain and simple they should go for the first round draft pick next year. Ravens should crush them.

Seattle is the clear favorite. Seattle has a strong winning percentage at home. Seattle has been aggressive against QB driven teams. Seattle has been very smooth in the delivery of a polished offense. However, Max Hall and the Cardinals has surprised us many times and that is why I am going with the Cardinals. Matt Hasselbeck has not done very well passing this year and I would bet to say that this will continue. Look for Marshawn Lynch to have a big game but only out matched and out played by Larry Fitzgerald.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS @ SAN DIEGO CHARGERS
The Chargers are not a very good team. The Chargers let go some of the best players in this league for marginal players. To keep Phillip Rivers over L.T. was a bad decision. Rivers is a good QB but his mouth makes him loss creditability. Norv Turner claimed that Ryan Mathews was to be the starting running back. We will see how that works out. New England is strong with or without Moss. I don't think doping moss was a great idea but Branch will fill in just fine.

Oakland! My new nemisis. I would typically predict that Oakland would beat the Broncos in this game but because of the Tuesday Hangover and the Broncos performance last Sunday and because this game is held at Mile High and the fact that Kyle Boller is starting...I am going with the Broncos. I really don't expect anyone to have a great game or even a good game. The only bright spot I see is Micheal Bush, who may actually rush for over 70 yards.

Too many inconsistencies and on field drama that this team doesn't belong is the NFL. The Cowboys need to shake it up next season and that means getting rid of majority of the problems. Drop Romo and Phillips with should be the start to a beautiful thing.

Tuesday Hangover - The Oakland Raiders

Originally, this post was to be about the 49ers but since the 49ers beat Oakland. Oakland fell within the cross hairs.

As we all wake up groggy and hung over from this weekends NFL football performances. I would like to take a look at the Oakland Raiders. If anyone needs a little hair of the dog this morning it is the Raiders. All the teams in the NFL look as if they are improving. The Raiders performance last weekend ensured that they are not improving but digressing as a football team. Since, 2003 Oakland has progressively gotten worse. Where does the problem begin? Where does it end?

Most people would claim that Al Davis is the sole reason as to why the Raiders have sunk to new lows. Al is Al. He has always been a wild card. The man has made just as many teams as he has broken teams. He tends to randomly pick players and coaches who other teams would tend to stay away from. Al Davis could be considered a genius during winning years and while they are losing he is called a buffoon. Al is the furthest thing from a buffoon. He knows football in and out. Al is neither. Al Davis is a wild card and that is it. He is right 50 percent of the time and wrong 50 percent of the time.

Coach Tom Cable is another logical choice as to who is to blame. Who is Coach Tom Cable? He was a low man on the totem pole when Lane Kiffen got fired. What happened to Rob Ryan? Why didn't he get the nod? Cable is an Offensive Line coach who got lucky. By the way, Oakland's offensive line sucks. Cable has no right to be considered a head coach nor does he have the ability to lead a team in the NFL. So why has he continued to be the head coach of a team that is not performing. Especially, underneath Al Davis who is known for firing coaches. Hmmm...

The team as a whole is also considered to be another major issue with why Oakland is so awful. I will dismiss this claim because the team is only as strong as the leader.

Maybe, Cable is to blame and Al Davis feels as if he is under scrutiny for the way that the Lane Kiffen deal went down. So he is attempting to prove himself to the public as a model owner.

No. Al Davis is like a dysfunctional chess player. He is always thinking three or four steps ahead of even the media. The reason as to why Oakland sucks so bad is because Al Davis wants to move back to Los Angeles.

What?

Al Davis is contractually bound to stay in Oakland through 2010. Many deals have been made to produce a stadium for both San Fransisco and Oakland utilizing both teams housing one team. This is not something Al would want nor the San Fransisco 49ers. However, the NFL has put pressure upon teams to do so, i.e. the Jets/Giants stadium. If the price is right, Los Angeles could offer up a stadium and training facilities to Al Davis to move the team back to Los Angeles. Al has publicly said that he never wanted to move from L.A. So why would his team have to suck this bad, in order for him to get the deal? L.A. wouldn't want a losing franchise. They would want a franchise that is prosperous. Oakland is losing because he doesn't want to stay in Oakland. Oakland promised Al Davis "sold out stadiums," and a certain amount of season ticket holders. When the Raiders returned to Oakland, the Raiders were growing into a fine organization. By 2001, the Raider games were sold out. This continued through 2003. After losing the Superbowl. Al Davis took Oakland Community to court. Stating that Oakland lured him back to Oakland with false promises. His words fell on deaf ears because of the Raiders high attendance. However, if the Raiders attendance was dramatically altered, Mr. Davis could potentially make a great case against Oakland.

If all of this is true, then why would an owner of a team want to see his franchise drop from being almost a billion dollar franchise to being a few hundred thousand dollar franchise? I believe that Mr. Davis is doing so because of the investors that is involved in the organization. If an investor was to offer 100 million dollars to Al for 10% stake in the franchise then that investor would later receive only 30 million to get bought back out. Call Mr. Davis a buffoon all you want. I call this a brilliant scam. Davis potentially could have his team in a new facility in Los Angeles and while buying out majority of his investors at bargain prices and still walk away with one of the greatest NFL franchises in the league.

Maybe this is all speculation. Maybe, I am just blowing smoke. Maybe, Al really is a buffoon. I would never under estimate Al Davis.
